Three-term contingency of the day: Wedding dress confusion
Antecedent: I'm in a bridal store and I have selected a wedding dress that I thought would look fabulous on me based on the picture I saw on their website.
Behaviour: I put on said wedding dress and look in the mirror.
Consequence: What I see does not look that fabulous. That dress is not the one. I won't be wearing that dress again.
Behaviourist at Play is getting married! While it is all very exciting, I also do not know what I am doing or what to expect. I was sure I would fall in love with this particular dress but seeing in on someone else and seeing it on me are two different behaviours. The picture was reinforcing but actually wearing it was not. Meanwhile, someone else will wear that dress and it will be stunning on them (i.e., reinforcing). And so the hunt for the perfect wedding dress continues. That much hasn't been extinguished!
